The MXR Bass Synth is a monophonic bass synthesizer pedal developed with Ian Martin Allison, combining synth voices with extensive tone shaping and modulation controls. It features sub-octave, envelope filter, and modulation effects with fast tracking and long sustain. Controls include Sub Mix, Mix, Cutoff, Resonance, Envelope, and Mod, while Voice and Shape buttons select additional oscillators and waveform types (triangle, sawtooth, and square). The pedal includes eight factory presets inspired by classic synth bass tones, plus additional parameters for oscillator behavior, modulation mix, compression, and tracking. It also supports stereo output, expression pedal control, and an external footswitch for preset selection, making it suitable for everything from vintage synth bass sounds to modern electronic textures.
