The Wampler Cryptid Fuzz is a compact, original circuit designed to capture the most desirable traits of classic fuzz designs in a single, flexible pedal. It draws inspiration from vintage Fuzz Face warmth and cleanup, Tone Bender aggression, and Big Muff sustain—while retaining the clarity and usability associated with the Velvet Fuzz. Engineered for both standalone use and stacking, the Cryptid responds dynamically to guitar volume changes and delivers everything from glassy cleans to saturated lead tones. Standard Volume, Tone, and Fuzz controls are complemented by a Character (bias) knob that shifts from smooth distortion-style fuzz to classic and gated textures. A three-position Tight switch shapes low-end response, while the Chime toggle adds harmonic presence without harshness.
