Wren and Cuff
Eye See '78
Report incorrect information
The Wren and Cuff Eye See ’78 is a recreation of the rare late-’70s op-amp Muff variant, produced for only a short period when the original circuit switched from transistors to integrated circuits. This IC-based design delivers a distinctly different voice—crunchier, more aggressive, and more forceful than traditional transistor versions.
Its unique clipping section produces a thick, woolly distortion associated with iconic ‘90s alternative tones. Compared to sweeter vintage Muff styles, the Eye See ’78 offers a tighter, more cutting character with bold sustain and punch.
It also includes the classic Tone Bypass switch, removing the passive tone stack for increased volume and a raw, open sound. In this mode, the tone control is bypassed, unleashing a more direct and untamed fuzz response.
Powerful and versatile, the Eye See ’78 captures the unmistakable edge of the op-amp era.
