Bass Boy

The Templo Devices Bass Boy is a bass preamp, optical compressor, three-band active EQ and DI pedal built around a dual-JFET preamp stage. The preamp adds harmonic-rich gain before the optical compressor, with two operating modes. Master mode uses the Preamp control to set gain into the compressor and Master to control its output, allowing preamp saturation and compression intensity to interact. Mix mode instead blends the compressed signal with the uncompressed preamp signal for parallel compression, with Preamp controlling overall output. The three-band active EQ provides independent cut and boost. Outputs include 1/4-inch, low-impedance XLR DI and 3.5 mm headphones. An internal switch adds a preset active cabinet-simulation EQ to the DI output, while an internal trimpot adjusts headphone volume.
