DB-1

The ZVEX DB-1 is a high-impedance analog signal meter designed for electric guitar. Rather than processing or altering the audio signal, it visually displays signal level while remaining effectively transparent in the signal chain. Its sensing circuit uses an extremely high input impedance—around 10 megaohms—to minimize loading on pickups and preserve the instrument's natural tone. The pedal features a single Range control that adjusts the sensitivity of the meter, allowing the needle movement to be matched to different guitars, pickups, and signal levels. The analog display provides a visual indication of signal strength, making it useful for monitoring picking dynamics, output levels, and the behavior of other effects in the signal chain. Unlike traditional guitar pedals, the DB-1 does not add gain, distortion, filtering, or modulation, functioning purely as a signal monitoring and visual feedback device.
