Buffer Bandwidth Amplifier

The Broughton Audio Buffer Bandwidth Amplifier (BBA) is an always-on utility pedal combining a transparent buffer, clean gain stage and bandwidth filtering. It presents a consistent 1 MΩ input impedance to pickups, helping preserve clarity and high frequencies through long cables or changing pedal configurations, while its 100Ω output can reliably drive pedals, preamps, DI boxes, amplifiers, mixers and recording interfaces. The clean gain control ranges from unity (0 dB) to +20 dB and can improve signal-to-noise ratio or raise instrument signals toward line level. The BBA also filters unwanted subsonic and ultrasonic frequencies without altering the intended instrument tone. It works with guitar, bass, keys, synths and other electronic instruments. Power requirements are 9–24V DC, center-negative, with approximately 10 mA current draw; higher voltages provide additional headroom for stronger or line-level signals.
