Small Fracture (Granite)

The Small Fracture is a lo-fi distortion/fuzz based on the preamp section of a classic one-knob chorus pedal, with the modulation circuitry removed and the design modified to create distortion through heavy op-amp overload. Distortion controls the amount of gain, Filter boosts treble content, Blast increases low end and adds further overload, and Level controls output volume. The three-position Clip switch selects low-compression diode clipping, no clipping, or high-compression clipping. The three-position Litter switch adds different forms of additional sonic artifacts, with High Content, Off and Gradual Content settings; this section is bypassed when Distortion is fully maxed. The highly interactive controls allow the circuit to range from tighter distortion and heavy fuzz to gated, compressed, noisy and deliberately degraded textures.
