Witch Finger

The October Audio Witch Finger is an op-amp-based boost and overdrive pedal designed to transition smoothly from clean amplification to soft-clipping distortion. Its single control uses a dual potentiometer to simultaneously adjust gain and symmetrical diode clipping. At lower settings, the clipping circuit remains inactive, providing clean boost and line-driving functionality. The output increases logarithmically, delivering approximately 10 dB of clean gain before soft clipping begins, followed by up to 5 dB of additional boost. Beyond approximately 1 o'clock, diode clipping is progressively introduced, producing subtle grit that develops into more pronounced overdrive near maximum.
