Ranges

The Wonderful Audio Technology Ranges is a multi-stage overdrive and distortion pedal designed to deliver amplifier-like gain without reproducing a specific amplifier circuit. It combines an operational amplifier gain stage with two JFET stages and an optional fourth gain stage, covering sounds from clean boost and mild overdrive to high-gain distortion. Six controls provide Volume, Gain, Presence and a three-band EQ with Bass, Middle and Treble. Four toggle switches expand its tonal range: Bright increases high-frequency content, Voice adjusts low-frequency amplification, Tight changes the response and firmness of the gain stages, and More activates the additional JFET gain stage. The Presence control uses a low-pass filter to shape the final high-frequency response. Each pedal uses individually selected JFETs and is hand-built in Redlands, California.
