The Ghost Note Audio Codename X81 is a high-gain analog preamp and distortion pedal inspired by the Marshall Valvestate 8100 amplifier. It features two selectable operating modes, Preamp and Distortion, offering different gain characteristics and tonal responses. A three-band EQ with Bass, Middle and Treble controls is complemented by a Contour knob for additional midrange shaping. Independent Gain and Volume controls allow adjustment of distortion intensity and output level, while a dedicated Boost control and secondary footswitch provide an additional level increase. Soft-touch footswitches retain their switching states after power cycling. The pedal also includes an external control input and selectable true or buffered bypass operation.
