Long Life

The Fairfield Circuitry Long Life is a versatile state-variable filter that combines tilt EQ and notch/boost equalization around a second-order (-12 dB/octave) filter core. Functioning much like a one-band parametric equalizer with additional filtering capabilities, it can operate as a shelving filter ranging from low-pass to high-pass, with fully variable resonance that extends into self-oscillation. The pedal includes CV inputs for frequency and resonance, a V/octave interface for synthesizer integration, an expression pedal input for real-time frequency control, and soft-clipping zener circuitry. It can be used for tone shaping, emphasizing or reducing frequencies before or after other pedals, wah-style effects with an expression pedal, standalone EQ processing, or as a voltage-controlled filter or oscillator in modular synthesizer setups.
