HM-2 Heavy Metal
Report incorrect information
The Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal is a high-gain distortion pedal introduced in 1983, originally designed to emulate the midrange character of a Marshall stack. Although it saw moderate success during its original production run, it became legendary after its discontinuation for its signature "chainsaw" tone, achieved by turning all controls to maximum—a sound that became a defining element of the Swedish death metal scene. Due to its enduring popularity and influence on extreme metal, BOSS reissued the pedal in 2020 as the HM-2W Waza Craft, adding Standard and Custom modes while preserving the original circuit's distinctive character. The HM-2 remains one of the most sought-after and recognizable distortion pedals in BOSS history.
