DJ1

The DJ1 is a discontinued bass overdrive/distortion pedal developed in collaboration with bassist Darryl Jones. Based on the Vemuram Jan Ray platform, it was redesigned to provide a wider gain range, increased headroom, and improved low-frequency handling specifically for bass applications. A blend between clean and overdriven signals helps preserve low-end clarity and punch while adding anything from subtle warmth to aggressive distortion. Built with selected NOS components, the pedal focuses on dynamic response, articulation, and versatility across different playing styles and bass setups. Developed over several years and used extensively by Darryl Jones during Rolling Stones tours, the DJ1 was designed to cover a broad range of bass drive tones while maintaining clarity, definition, and strong low-end presence.
