Super Phat Mod

The Keeley Super Phat Mod is an overdrive pedal based on Robert Keeley’s well-known modification of the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver. Designed to deliver dynamic, amp-like breakup, it uses carefully selected JFET components to emulate the response and feel of a tube amplifier while maintaining excellent touch sensitivity and note clarity. The pedal offers a wide gain range, from light edge-of-breakup tones to richer overdrive sounds, while remaining highly responsive to picking dynamics and guitar volume adjustments. A selectable Phat mode adds low-end presence, making it particularly useful with single-coil pickups. Known for its full-range frequency response and open character, the Super Phat Mod provides an alternative to more mid-focused overdrives, delivering natural drive tones suitable for blues, country, rock, and other styles.
