The Violet

The JHS Violet Distortion is a collaboration between JHS founder Josh Scott and guitarist Lari Basilio, designed to cover a wide range of gain textures from low-gain overdrive to modern high-gain distortion. Rather than focusing on a single distorted voice, the pedal emphasizes flexibility and detailed tone shaping. A key feature is its 3-band EQ, with the Mid control positioned before the distortion stage. This allows the midrange frequencies feeding the clipping circuit to be adjusted, significantly affecting the pedal's gain structure, response, and overall character. The Bass and Treble controls are placed after the distortion stage, providing familiar post-distortion tone shaping. The Violet can function as a primary drive source or be stacked with overdrives, distortions, and fuzz pedals, making it suitable for a wide variety of amplifiers, guitars, and musical styles.
