Cheese Ball

The JHS Cheese Ball is a fuzz/distortion pedal based on the Lovetone Big Cheese, a rare and highly regarded British fuzz circuit from the 1990s. It combines traditional fuzz controls with multiple voicing options, allowing it to cover a wide range of tones from open distortion to heavily gated fuzz. Controls include Volume, Gain, and Tone, along with a rotary Mode selector that changes the pedal's overall EQ and gain structure. The modes include a bright, raw fuzz tone with the Tone control bypassed, a mid-scooped setting reminiscent of certain Big Muff-style sounds, a mid-focused mode for improved mix presence, and a gated fuzz mode that produces more aggressive and sputtering textures. The Cheese Ball is capable of delivering classic fuzz, distortion-like drive, and gated fuzz sounds, making it one of the more versatile recreations of the original Big Cheese circuit.
