Ego 76 Compressor

The Wampler Ego 76 Compressor is a FET compressor inspired by the legendary UREI/Universal Audio 1176 Peak Limiter, the pioneering solid-state studio compressor introduced in 1967. Designed to bring classic studio compression to a pedalboard format, it adds sustain, punch, and tonal enhancement while preserving the instrument's natural dynamics. Controls include Attack and Release for studio-style compression shaping, Compression, Level, a Blend control for parallel compression that mixes the dry and compressed signals, and a Tone control that adds the brightness and presence associated with the 1176. Rather than simply recreating the original FET circuit, the Ego 76 is voiced to capture the overall character of classic studio recordings, delivering everything from subtle dynamic control to punchy, articulate compression. The pedal features true bypass switching.
