The Wren and Cuff The Good One is a meticulous recreation of an exceptional 1972 “triangle knob” Muff—one of the rare vintage units that truly stood out. Based on a restored original nicknamed “The Good One,” this pedal captures the magic of a uniquely voiced circuit that rose above the many inconsistent early Muff variations. It features carefully selected transistors chosen to replicate the tone of the original unit, along with a mix of NOS carbon composition resistors and intentionally sourced vintage-style ceramic capacitors—dubbed “Dirty Guts”—to reproduce the raw, slightly unruly character that made the original special. The result is rich, harmonically complex fuzz with depth, attitude, and vintage authenticity. Housed in a heavy-duty folded steel enclosure, The Good One delivers rare early-’70s Muff tone with modern reliability and careful craftsmanship.
