Germ Face

The JRR Pedals Germ Face is a germanium fuzz pedal based on the Analog Man Sun Face circuit, itself derived from the classic Fuzz Face design. It features two MP38 germanium transistors, with a medium-gain MP38 in the first stage and a high-gain MP38A in the second, producing vintage-style fuzz with dynamic response and sensitivity to guitar volume adjustments. An external Sol knob controls transistor bias, allowing adjustment of the fuzz character. Three internal trimmers provide additional tonal flexibility: Clean adjusts the circuit for brighter, cleaner sounds and improves compatibility with high-output pickups, while separate first-stage and second-stage Bias trimmers allow precise transistor bias adjustment. The second-stage trimmer also extends the operating range of the external Sol control.
