Power Baby

The Hagerman Amplification Power Baby is a miniature-tube push-pull power amplifier stage designed for guitar and bass. Rather than simulating a power amp, it uses real pentode tubes to produce power-stage sag, compression and phase-inverter distortion at relatively low signal levels. It can directly drive an 8Ω or 16Ω speaker at low volume, or be used with headphones, an impulse-response cabinet simulator or DI. Its pedal-level signal handling allows it to be placed at different points in an effects chain, including before effects such as reverb. A sufficiently high-output pedal or preamp is required before the Power Baby to drive it into full saturation.
