Wizard

The Kappa Electronics Wizard is a high-gain distortion and preamp designed to provide amplifier-style gain directly from a pedalboard. It features an active three-band EQ with Bass, Mid and Treble controls, while Gain adjusts the main distortion level and Level controls output volume. A three-position Mode switch changes the gain of a boost stage placed before the main distortion circuit, providing different levels of saturation and compression. The circuit is designed to retain clarity and note definition with low tunings and 7- or 8-string guitars. The Wizard features true bypass and operates from a 9V DC center-negative supply with less than 20 mA current draw. It uses Alpha and Tayda potentiometers, a fiberglass circuit board and a carbon-steel enclosure.
