Ruin & Bloom

The October Audio Ruin & Bloom is an all-analog optical tremolo, fuzz, and boost pedal featuring three selectable modulation waveforms. Its Shape switch offers reverse sawtooth for choppy repeater-style effects, triangle for traditional amplifier-like tremolo, and ramp-up for volume swells. Rate adjusts modulation speed, with a toggle providing a tenfold speed range, while Depth controls modulation intensity. Gain adjusts a post-modulation amplification stage from attenuation to boost. A switchable fuzz circuit derived from October Audio's Heavy Peaches uses two 2N2222 silicon transistors to produce vintage-style distortion. With modulation depth minimized, the pedal can function as a standalone fuzz or clean boost when the fuzz is disengaged.
