Butter Machine
Report incorrect information
The Butter Machine is a distortion pedal developed in collaboration with guitarist Michael Landau, designed to deliver a wide range of expressive drive tones while preserving clarity, dynamics, and picking response. Inspired partly by the character of the Ibanez SD9, the circuit was extensively redesigned over more than two years to reduce harshness and excessive compression while improving articulation and tonal flexibility.
The pedal covers everything from open overdrive to saturated distortion, while remaining responsive to guitar volume and playing dynamics. In addition to standard Gain, Volume, and Tone controls, it includes internal Sparkle and Low-Mid trim controls for fine adjustment of high-end bite and low-mid body.
Tested extensively in studio sessions and live touring, the Butter Machine was designed to provide high gain and sustain without sacrificing punch, note definition, or musical responsiveness.
