Robotic Celebrity Head

The October Audio Robotic Celebrity Head is a transistor-based overdrive and fuzzy distortion pedal inspired by the sound of an overdriven tube combo amplifier. It features two selectable gain modes: toggle down provides medium-gain overdrive using transistor clipping, while toggle up engages higher gain and asymmetrical diode clipping for a more saturated, fuzz-like response. The circuit is designed to maintain balanced output levels between modes and responds dynamically to picking intensity, pickup selection and guitar volume, allowing the distortion to clean up as the instrument volume is reduced. This third version replaces the germanium clipping diodes of earlier models with Schottky diodes while retaining the original tonal character.
